I Gotta Wear Shades

Aubrey has been asking for sunglasses for a while. In the car she will often say "it bright, sunglasses....mommy's sunglasses." After receiving 2 painful shots for her ears, we went to Target for some retail therapy. Purple sunglasses with bling were perfect to make the boo boo ouee better. She has been wearing them nonstop and even when indoors, she has refused to take them off. This particular morning, we went to church with them on and she wore them throughout her Sunday school class! We picked Ava up some pink ones! A girl has got to have her accessories!

Look who's 35

Oh yes, Anthony has joined the mid 30's. We had a low key celebration this year. Anthony went duck hunting in the morning, we took a nap, went to a movie and then to dinner. The girls got him some slippers that Ronix famously destroyed during one of his "outings".

Happy birthday to the most wonderful husband, loving and engaged father and best friend I have ever had!

I love this....Ava is all eyes on daddy while Aubrey is all eyes on cake!

Guess whos eating the cake?

The man of lesiure!

Here comes trouble!

Good Bye to and Old Friend

It was a normal Sunday. The kids were eating breakfast and Anthony and I were getting ready for church. I had let Ronix out and put food our for Bay. Anthony went to let Bay out and was saddened to find that our precious Bay had gone to be with the Lord. Heartbreaking.

We had gotten Bay the weekend after we got back from our honeymoon in St. Martin. The very weekend we got back! Anthony had always wanted a Weimaraner and had told me that as soon as we got married, he wanted to get one. He wasn't kidding. Anthony choose Mr. Bay because he was the only puppy in the litter with a beautiful white crest on his chest and he immediately took to Anthony. He was our first baby. I remember the car ride home. I drove while Anthony carried him like a newborn in his lap all the way home.

He has always been such a sweet baby. He was this tiny little dog, with a big ole nugget for a head and huge paws. We knew he was going to be big. We saw his mother and his father....his father was a giant. Anthony took Bay to work with him for the first several months of his life. He spent much of his time in Anthony's truck and under Anthony's bed. He loved to ride in the car...head out, ears a flapping.

After his adult teeth came him he chewed a lot of the siding and fence on our first home. He chewed to the point the his bottom teeth were basically nubs! He has always looked like an old man....hound like eyes peering up at us as if he was saying "what"? And with that he became Mr. Bay...because he looked like a Mr. instead of a pup. He thought he was a Mr., too. I mean he seriously thought he was a human. If you sat on his seat on the couch he looked at you like you were crazy for sitting in his seat.

He was never the brightest dog. He was dopey in a very loving way. A gentle giant in every way and gave lots of kisses on command. Always under your heels and loved to eat....the only time he got a little feisty was when he was eating. Don't mess with his food or bones!

Even to the very end he was eating. Anthony and I don't feed our dogs human food, but the last months of his life, I started feeding him scraps. We both knew that his time was limited. He was aging and his hips were giving out on him. I just don't think we expected it quite so soon.

Ava has been asking lots of questions. Where is his collar? When will his skin come back to us? When will we bury him? She told me she prayed tonight that God would bring him back, but she knows he won't. Aubrey asked were he was and went toward his door to let him out. I told her several times that Bay is "bye, bye", but I'm sure she doesn't get it. When we get his remains back, we will bury here with us and plant a tree to mark his grave. He is family and belongs to be with us.

I'm thankful for the gift of his companionship. He was a wonderful, dopey, sweet spirited dog and we are grateful for our time with him. As Anthony says, good-bye to an old friend.
